// Parking Lot Square Footage Calculator

Parking Lot Square Footage Calculator

Add up multiple sections of a lot, subtract landscape islands and planters, and convert the total to square yards and acres. Use the number to drive a paving, sealcoat, or striping estimate.

Areas

Enter each rectangle. Choose Add for paved areas and Subtract for islands or landscaping.

// How it works

Break the lot into rectangles

Most lots are not a single clean rectangle, so the accurate way to measure is to split the paved area into sections, calculate each one, and add them. Anything that will not be paved, such as landscape islands, planter beds, and building footprints, gets subtracted. The tool totals the added areas, removes the subtracted ones, and converts the result to square yards and acres.

Who uses it

  • Property managers scoping a budget before contractors arrive.
  • HOA boards checking a proposal quantity against their own measurement.
  • Anyone who needs a square footage number to feed a tonnage, sealcoat, or striping estimate.

Limitations

This is a rough measurement aid based on the dimensions you enter. It does not replace a field measurement or a survey for bidding. For irregular curves, measure conservative rectangles that follow the pavement edge.

// Common questions

Square footage questions

How do I calculate parking lot square footage?

Break the lot into rectangles, multiply length by width for each, and add them together. Subtract landscape islands and planters that will not be paved, then convert the total to the unit your contractor uses.

How do I convert square feet to acres?

Divide square feet by 43,560 to get acres, and divide by 9 to get square yards. This tool shows all three at once.
